Community integration as reentry: Understanding functioning, vocational identity, and core self‐evaluations

Individuals who have experienced incarceration are an underserved population in need of career development to reduce barriers employment. Given the high rates disability and health concerns for individuals been previously incarcerated, this study explored relationships between individual functioning, vocational identity, core self-evaluations, community integration. Using structural equation modeling regression, results showed that functional difficulties negatively impact identity self-evaluations. Conversely, self-evaluations significantly improve integration mediate a positive relationship Career activities aimed at increasing meaning employment may some by post incarceration.
